The actual capacity of a fuel tank is often higher than the capacity stated in the vehicle manual. For safety reasons, a fuel tank always contains an air reserve. That is why an overfill protection system normally prevents the tank from being filled once it is full.

In exceptional cases, this system may not function optimally, causing part of the air reserve to be filled with fuel. As a result, more fuel may fit into the tank than the officially stated tank capacity.

The likelihood that the difference is caused by the fuel pump is very small. Our pumps are calibrated annually by an accredited body in accordance with legal requirements. In addition, regular independent inspections are carried out to ensure accurate measurements and to protect you as a consumer.
